Two Scoops, Please! Sugar Free Homemade Strawberry Ice Cream

We recently decided to do a bit of bartering, and are exchanging web services for fruits and vegetables from the clients garden. So far we have enjoyed lots of fresh leaf lettuce and lots of strawberries. There have been way too many strawberries to just eat them, so I have frozen them for using in ice cream and sugar free jello.

I couldn’t miss an opportunity to try out the ice cream base recipe with strawberries, so I made this right away! I didn’t use much sweetener, since strawberries have natural sweetness to them. If you decide to give it a try, just taste a bit of the mix and see if it needs sweetener for your own taste.

To make this, just mix heavy cream, half and half, sweetener and strawberries in the blender, and then freeze. Also delicious is making this into strawberry shakes. For this, I use a bit of whole milk rather than all cream and half & half. The strawberries make it quite thick. Using lower fat milk for the ice cream will result in more ice crystals in your ice cream though, so stick to the higher fat if you plan to freeze it all the way.

Delicious! Give it a try while strawberries are fairly cheap!

Whey protein isolate contains between 90-97% pure protein and little to no lactose.

We get plenty of protein in our diet, so I’m not concerned about that. Plus we aren’t of the mind that the saturated fat in the cream is a problem, in moderation of course. Maybe it will benefit someone else though! Thanks for visiting my site!
